Company founded in 1906 in Nueremberg as Carl Braun
Camerawerk GmbH. Originally it was
an optical and precision engineering company which
manufactured parts for the radio industry and binoculars. In
1948, the company began producing box film cameras, in rollfilm and 35mm
format. In 1954, the company began producing slide projectors. In the 1960s
Braun ceased making cameras and began to focus on its established
line of slide and optical projectors.
Over 1,000,000 slide projectors had been made up to
1966, more than 4,000,000 up 1997. In the 1970s Braun
marketed japanese Super 8 cameras under its name. In the 2000 the company
became insolvent. |
