Company that
developed low-cost sync-sound filmmaking equipment used in film schools and film productions around
the world. Super 8 Sound produced a complete range of equipment that offered to Super 8
filmmakers the capabilities that formerly had only been available to 16mm & 35mm
filmmakers.
The company was founded by
Bob Doyle, who invented synchronous sound recorder and
editing equipment for Super8 film. In 1977 Bob Doyle sold the company to one of his employees Phil Vigeant.
After a number of years, he set up a branch of the company in Los Angeles,
called Pro8mm.
