Aäton Super 8
In the March/April 1981 issue of Super-8 Filmaker magazine, an article reports that Aäton SA made a Super 8 movie camera.
"Excluisve! Aäton Super-8. Thanks to editorial consultant Dennis Duggan, the SUPER-8 FILMAKER staff received an exclusive eyeful of a new Aäton Super-8 camera currently being designed in France. Presenting the camera in our San Francisco office was none other than the founder president of Aäton himself -Jean Pierre Beauviala! Duggan met Beauviala during a Harvard anthropology seminar last year when they shared the stage with French filmmaker Jean Roach ("Headliners", Vol 8, No 7/1980). Already noted for producing prestigious 16 and 35mm cameras, Beauviala had mentioned the possibility of designing and Aäton Super-8 camera then, and he recently came to the West Coast to consultant Duggan on possible specifications. Although we can't disclose the details of their meeting (the camera is still in protoype form), suffice it to say that Aäton Super-8 camera could race to the forefront of professional Super-8 equipment. Don't expect to see Aäton's Super-8 camera on the market for a couple of years, but we'll announce new developments as they happen. If you'd like to offer Aäton your own suggestions for a professional Super-8 camera, write to: SUPER-8 FILMAKER, 609 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94105."
