Company founded in 1926 in Dresden by the merger of 4 german manufacturers. It became one of the big companies in the phototechnical capital Dresden, with plants in Stuttgart and BerlinAfter World War II Zeiss Ikon was split into a Westgerman and an Eastgerman part. In 1965, it merged with Voigtländer, another important German manufacturer. In 1972 it ceased the production of cameras.
